The Battlecruiser, HMS Hood leaving Portsmouth Harbour, c1935. She was sunk with the loss of 1415 crewmen (many from the Portsmouth area) on 24th May 1941 in the battle of Denmark Straight by a salvo from the German battleship Bismark.
